Connecting With Ghosts

Happy Halloween Enchanted Souls,

It's the season to celebrate my favourite holiday. And boy, do I have a treat for you. As a spirit medium and healer, I absolutely love All Hallows' Eve on October 31st, or as we call it, Halloween. It precedes the night before the Christian All-Saints’ Day on November 1st and All Souls' Day on November 2nd. This is the best time to connect with our ancestors.

This makes Halloween extra special for me. I encourage this festive holiday as a time for added self-exploration, to accept our deeper, sometimes ghostly and scary, aspects that we cannot always see.

While I cherish the memories of making costumes for my kids and the traditions of passing out candy, there's more to the ghoulishly fun, frightful night I embrace. It's a time of remembrance for those we've lost and a celebration of summer's death and winter's birth.

During this time, it's believed that the connections between the physical world and other worlds are thinnest, allowing for more interaction between humans and spirits. The boundary between the living and the departed blurs. It's an opportunity to connect with our deceased loved ones and even unknown ancestors, honouring their wisdom and seeking their guidance. It's my honour to share a magical way to explore how to create an ancestral altar or engage in practices that honour your lineage.

HERE'S THE TREAT:

Candlelight Ritual for Halloween: Honouring Ancestors and Seeking Spiritual Guidance

This ritual is designed to help you connect with your ancestors, seek spiritual guidance, and embrace the essence of Halloween as a time of remembrance and inner reflection.

Materials Needed:

A quiet, dimly lit space

A small table or altar

An ancestral offering (e.g., a photo or memento of a deceased loved one)

A white candle

A black candle

Matches or a lighter

A protective crystal (black tourmaline)

A journal or notebook

Pen

Ritual Steps:

1. Set the Sacred Space:

Find a quiet, peaceful space where you won't be disturbed. Create an altar on a small table with the white candle on one side and the black candle on the other. Place your ancestral offering at the center.

2. Ground Yourself:

Sit comfortably in front of the altar. Place the black tourmaline next to you. Take a few deep breaths to center yourself and ground your energy.

3. Invocation:

With sincerity, call upon your ancestors and any spiritual guides you wish to connect with. You may say something like: "On this sacred night, I call upon my ancestors and any benevolent spirits to join me in this ritual. May your wisdom and love guide me."

4. Light the Black Candle:

Light the black candle, representing the mystery and the unseen. As you do, say: "I embrace the unknown and honour the mysteries of life."

5. Light the White Candle:

Light the white candle, symbolizing the light of guidance and protection. Say: "I welcome the guidance and protection of my ancestors and spiritual guides."

6. Meditation and Connection:

Close your eyes and meditate for a few minutes. Visualize a warm, loving light surrounding you, connecting you with the spiritual realm. Imagine your ancestors or spiritual guides present, offering their wisdom and support.

7. Offering and Gratitude:

Offer a few words of gratitude to your ancestors and spiritual guides. Share your feelings, thoughts, and intentions. Express your appreciation for their presence in your life.

8. Journaling:

Open your journal or notebook and write down any insights, messages, or feelings that came to you during the meditation and ritual. Reflect on the guidance you've received.

9. Closing:

Close the ritual by thanking your ancestors and guides. Blow out the candles in reverse order (white first, then black). As you do, say: "Thank you for your presence and guidance. May your wisdom continue to light my path."

10. Daily Remembrance:

After the ritual, keep the white candle on your altar as a symbol of ongoing connection and guidance from your ancestors and spiritual guides. Light it whenever you seek their wisdom and support.
